Collection of South Indian rasam recipes for rice. Rasam is a staple in every south Indian households. Rasam means comfort food. So, I pair it with simply appalam or a easy potato fry. And it tastes heaven when had hot. Usually, when we have common cold, nothing like a hot rasam and steamed rice with a dollop of ghee comforts us.
Base ingredient of a rasam inspite of the variety and variation made at each home is tamarind or tomato as base. Other basic spices are mainly black pepper, cumin seeds (aids digestion) and in addition to it, also garlic, asafoetida are added for flavour in some cases. Likewise, dal, coriander leaves, coriander are all some of the common ingredients.
