I was asking my friends if they make to get recipe. My MIL told this recipe luckily, 2 days back that she saw this in Jaya TV in cookery show by Mrs. Revathy Shanmugam mam.

I know she is one of the very few whose recipes are genuine and turn out perfect too.

Seven cups sweet is very famous as it is easy to make and the recipe is also very simple to remember.

But we have never made this at our home and this is the first time I am making and tasting too.

While my MIL told the recipe during our Skype call, I am not sure if I noted down wrongly or what, but somehow I wrote the sugar ratio wrongly.

And followed blindly the recipe, took video. But the result was a delicious halwa, not burfi.

It was very flavourful and delicious. Only that instead burfi, it was halwa.

Then when I saw the recipe, the sugar quantity was too less for a burfi. So I added more and got the burfi right.

So let's learn how to make 7 cups burfi! And now I know the name 7 cups is just for holding the 7 ingredients, not all the ingredient in same quantity.

    Notes

    • I always make the entire process in medium flame, this ensures a good texture to the burfi.
    • Cut the pieces when it is warm, if cools down, the pieces break.
    • You can add almonds in place of cashews. Or mixture of both.

Hi raji, a big silent follower if your blog. Just saw if u have mentioned y this name to this burfi, thought of sharing. If we add cups of ingredients we used it comes seven which will yield a perfect one. Gram flour, grated coconut, milk, ghee each one cup which makes four in total. Added to 3 cups of sugar makes seven cup cake. Urs have come out perfect. Tempting..

Sure, you can try, but the texture will be softer side than like a burfi.
