I tasted this only once when my friend Sangeeta made me when she visited me.

It tasted great ands surprised that it's atta ladoo. And loved the way she had decoratedit with some pistachio toppings.

I thought of trying on my own and asked her for the recipe. It was similar to other ladoo recipes like one I make with rava.

This is simple but healthier when compared to rava because of atta. Mainly this can be perfect for kids as snacks, its healthy for them.

With Navaratri and Diwali coming up, make it and gift pack or serve as prasad. So thought will be helpful and posting this.

Can we make atta ladoo with jaggery?

Yes we can replace white sugar with jaggery. It will be lesser in sweet comparatively, but you can adjust it.

Do check out my atta kesari (Atta halwa) recipe in my website. You may also be interested in how to make ghee post.

    Atta ladoo recipe

Atta ladoo or wheat flour ladoo is prepared commonly in households as a snack, energy booster in winters especially. With desi ghee & nuts.
    Course Sweets
    Cuisine Indian
    Prep Time 15 minutes
    Cook Time 15 minutes
    Servings 15 Ladoo
    Cup measurements

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup Wheat flour/ Atta
    • Β½ cup heaped Sugar
    • Β½ cup heaped Ghee
    • 2 Cardamom
    • 4 tablespoon Pistachios
Prevent your screen from going dark

    Instructions

    • Roast atta well in medium flame stirring continuously.
    • If you feel its turning brown quickly at bottom, you can even roast in low flame. Roast very well, until it turns golden brown, taking care not to burn it.
    • Powder sugar with cardamom seeds.
    • Take both atta and powdered sugar in a mixing bowl. Melt ghee and add it to this and mix well.
    • Now keep a shallow bowl with a tablespoon of melted ghee and powder pistachios coarsely and take it in another shallow bowl/ plate.
    • Shape ladoos and dip (touch) a small part of the ladoo in ghee.
    • Then the ghee dipped part in powdered pistachios. This way it sticks to the ladoos. Continue the same to finish.
    • Arrange in individual mini muffin liners if desired.

    Notes

    • Never compromise in ghee, otherwise may not taste good, this is the tip from my friend.
    • You can increase sugar if you want
    • You can skip the pistachio part and add chopped, ghee fried nuts of your choice, mix and make ladoos.
    • Instead of powdering the pistachios, you can also thin slice it and follow the same

I have one doubt....We need to cool down the atta before shaping the laddoo or it has to be done when the flour is hot.

Hi I am making these today for a friend who is having a party. Have never tried Indian sweets before but this recipe looks so delicious and easy. Please can you tell me how long they keep and do I have to store them in an air tight container? One other questions please, what can be used for someone who has a wheat allergy (gluten free) could gluten free flour be used for this? Thank you so much for posting such delicious recipes

You can keep this in a close container, preferably airtight one for 5 days. If refrigerated you can keep it good for 2 weeks.
If you want to make it as gluten free, you can try making ladoos with flattened rice, if you can get it in your part of world : check this recipe http://www.rakskitchen.net/2013/08/aval-laddu-recipe-poha-ladoo-easy.html
