Bread kachori, quick method to make and enjoy tea time snack with just few simple steps. Quick video and Bread Kachori step by step photos.

Actually, I wanted to make pyaz kachori, some how saved it for a proper one. Because this is a quick snack just like my bread bonda with aloo. Obviously Aj loved it since it is a deep fried snack. I thought he would fuss about peas stuffing. He happily ate it. I just tasted it and it was indeed delicious. Made it couple of days ago and took my own time to post it today.

I found this recipe in Modern bread site when I was browsing for tutti fruity bread 

You can play with your own favorite kachori stuffing. Just for an idea, I made it with fresh peas. Be it onion or dal, try which ever is your favorite. And do not think bread will absorb lot of oil. Ofcourse it will, like any other deep fried items. We are getting rid of the air pockets that retains oil, by dipping in water and squeezing well. This step reduces absorption of oil, than when we fry as such for adding to biryani/ pulaos.

Is video more your thing?

Here’s a quick video on how to make bread kachori.

Just make sure to use fresh bread. You can also try this in air fryer (I don’t have any idea how as I don’t have one). If you are not comfortable dipping in water and squeezing, you can also roll out to thin bread slice and then make. The choice is yours, but I feel this method drinks lesser oil and no need to seal the edges with maida slurry or anything.

  • Salt as needed

Spice powders

  • 1/8 tsp Turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp Amchoor
  • 1/4 tsp cumin

  • 1/2 tsp Coriander
  • 1/2 tsp Chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp Garam masala

Instructions

  • First wash, pressure cook peas with 1/4 cup water for 1 whistle. I did directly in a small pressure cooker. You can force release pressure to retain green. Drain water once done. In a pan, heat oil, add cooked peas to it. Sprinkle required salt and all spice powders.
  • Mash well to mix everything and the mixture is dry.
  • In a shallow bowl, keep bow of water. Take a edges trimmed bread.
  • Give a quick dip on either side. Now squeeze the extra water.
  • Place about 1 to 1 & 1/2 tbsp of peas mixture. Cover from all sides.
  • Pinch together all the ends. Squeeze out any extra water and make sure to shape and seal as you do it.
  • Repreat to finish.

Notes

  • Dry bread might break, so use soft bread.
  • If oil is too hot, bread will burn fast, so let it be in low or medium.
