Bread upma recipe – Easy breakfast, after school snack or even lunch box idea for your kids with bread as main ingredient and other easily available ingredients.
I was thinking since bread is Aj’s favorite, I will try bread upma for him. As it is chatpata & masaledarish he may like it. But, realized not a big fan of bread upma, he prefers other snacks using bread than this. If he had liked it, I am sure it would have made a place in his lunch box. Sadly, he didn’t.
In contrary, I love any upmas. Even when writing/ reading the word upma makes me drool. That crazy! Bread upma is a real treat too for me. Also, this is a good tea time snack for kids if they like too. You can make it in a jiffy when in real hunger. One of the best way to use up the soon to expire bread. Obviously, will definitely post my kid’s favorite bread snacks, as he has got holidays now.

Bread upma preparation summary:
Firstly, roughly chop the bread or tear roughly using hands. After that, temper, saute onion, chilli, ginger garlic paste, tomato. Then, add the spice powders, little water and toss in the bread pieces in it. Finally, garnish with a generous drizzle of ghee and some fresh chopped coriander leaves.
I did not add garam masala powder, but for a variation, you can add ½ tsp of garam masala or kitchen king masala.
Tastes best when served hot, but I can say it tastes good even when cooled down. Serve as such or it can go well with coconut chutney, onion raita or even tomato sauce.
