Actually I have not tasted any dessert that has cinnamon in it before, except for the fruit cake I tried.
I loved it. Other than that, I have not tasted anything like a crumble or pie with cinnamon flavour.
I wish to, but didn't get chance. Earlier, I tasted cinnamon bread sticks from pizza hut at a get together to be specific.
Me and Aj loved it, so decided to try at home. Made it simply with what I had in mind, also saw in few websites.
Stuck to my pizza base recipe eventually and the glaze as in my sugar cookies, except the fact that I made it thinner.
I realized that, made thicker than what I tasted. Also I added a wee bit more than needed cinnamon powder that I had in stock.
Nevertheless we enjoyed it fully and finished in no time. Perfect treat for your kids, also can be easily prepared.

cinnamon bread sticks recipe
Ingredients
- 1.5 cup All purpose flour Maida
- 1 teaspoon Instant Yeast *You can replace with active dry yeast – 1 tbsp, refer notes
- ¼ cup Milk
- ¼ cup Water approx.
- ⅛ cup Oil or melt butter
- ¾ teaspoon Salt
- 2 teaspoon Sugar
For glaze
- ½ cup Icing sugar
- ⅛ teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1.5 tablespoon Milk
- ¼ teaspoon Vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix flour, salt and yeast.
- Mix milk and water and heat it just luke warm. Dissolve sugar in it.
- Now add this milk and oil/ butter to the flour and mix.
- Make a smooth dough. Knead for 5 minutes.
- Keep aside covered with a cling wrap. Preferably in a warm place.
- I keep inside the oven with oven light ON. After an hour or 1 & ½ hour, the dough would have doubled and risen.
- Punch it down and knead well again. Roll into thick round.
- Transfer to pizza pan. Cut into strips, no need to fully cut out, just make marks.
- I realize I cut broader, but cut more thin so that it resembles stick.
- Preheat oven at 190 deg C and brush the bread sticks generously with milk.
- Bake for 14 mins or until pale golden.
- Prepare glaze by mixing icing sugar, cinnamon, milk, vanilla extract.
- Once the bread is warm, spread over it and cut out to serve.
Notes
- I have used instant yeast, which is supposed to be added directly to the flour without dissolving. If using active dry yeast, you should first add the yeast to lukewarm milk with sugar and dissolve it. Keep aside for 10 mins. It should be frothy and risen after 10 mins. if it is plain as such, then the yeast is not good. Discard and buy fresh stock.
- Kneading well is important for the yeast to mix well, as well as for texture.
- Thickness should be same as we roll for pizza.
- If the glaze is too thick, thin it with milk or otherwise, the cinnamon sticks will be too sweet.
- I made the glaze thick and with more cinnamon powder than mentioned. It was too sweet and over powering, so reduced in the recipe.
- Do not over cook the bread. Keep an eye after 12 mins.
- The bread should be place in a greased pan (drizzle with oil, sprinkle some flour).
