Custard apple juice recipe – How to make custard apple juice

August 5, 2015 by Raks Anand 7 Comments /

Custard apple juice recipe Custard apple also known as seetha pazham (in Tamil) is an amazing fruit with enormous health benefits. It has anti cancerous properties, is high in magnesium, good for arthritis and cardio vascular diseases etc. Vj always ask me to buy and make juice. As a kid, I used to love this fruit but eat it as such as fruit. But had no clue how one could make juice with it as its pulp is around lots of seeds. I tried once couple of months back with a variety I bought from Fairprice, its outer skin was dark in colour, unlike the Indian variety which had green outer skin. I just used my mixer and used juice/ inch/ pulse option to make juice and could eliminate the seeds easily. Now again we got the fruit from Mustafa, the green variety and made juice. I had this picture for long time now in the drafts and thought of posting now as I am spending my time with my parents who are here with me for some time. There is no such recipe in this, but who ever thinks its not easy to make juice at home with this fruit, its not that difficult, you can make at home easily. custard-apple-juice

Custard apple recipe

Recipe Cuisine: Indian  |  Recipe Category: Drink
Prep Time: 15 mins    |  Cook time: 0 mins     |  Serves: 3

Ingredients

Custard apple – 3

Water – 1 & 1/2 to 2 cups

Sugar – 1/4 cup or as per your taste

Salt – A pinch

Method

  1. Break open the custard apple and scoop the pulp from it to a blender.
  2. 1-scoop

  3. You can use any blade but care should be taken not to grind or break the seeds as seeds or not healthy to consume. So you should just use the juice/ pulse button in the mixer to give quick run and make the seeds separate from the pulp.
  4. 2-whip

  5. With chilled water, just run the mixer for few seconds to separate the seed from pulp. Strain through a metal strainer.
  6. 3-filter

  7. Repeat if needed and mix in sugar, salt and transfer to the serving glass.
  8. 4-grind

Notes

    • I have tried using the whip blade (Round shaped) It takes long time to separate the seed from pulp but never lets the seed get ground.
    • Adjust sugar, water as per your taste. But the juice tastes best when thick.
    • Salt is optional.

Serve this tasty, healthy juice chilled! How many of you love this juice? 😍

Custard apple has the highest content of calcium, of all the fruits. Was wondering how the juice is extracted. Thanks for sharing the tip.
