Iced lemon tea is a great thirst quencher for summer heat, homemade one just perfectly balanced to suit your taste buds. Here's a simple recipe to make at home.

Make a jug full of iced lemon tea on a hot summer days and it is perfect as a refreshing drink.
Check out my iced coffee recipe and this refreshing simple mint tea recipe in this website.
I drank Iced lemon tea few times when I went to cinemas. That too I got some to taste from Vj. Not habit, but I say very firmly I don’t want any drink every time, but end up whatever Vj gets, I have few sips from his drink 😊.
Few times I bought bottled iced green lemon tea and had it. I have slow metabolism for caffeine, I sit like an owl in nights if I have tea, so I drink very rarely.
Here in Singapore, they add lemon slices to the tea instead of squirting lemon juice in the tea. These slices, when slightly muddled with straw lends the fresh lemon flavour needed for a lemon tea. This helps the tea too stay clear and not cloudy. It's up to your preference.
For this summer, I always feel like having something ice cold after the house chores. Most of the time it will be nannari sarbath with lemon as I have the syrup. But yesterday somehow felt like having ice lemon tea. But I wanted to make use of the lemons too before they get wasted (Indian lemons are costly here), so made this today and made a post too 😉.
Ingredients
- Tea - I used tea powder as I always have stock of it (Lipton yellow label). You can also use tea bags.
- Lemon - You can use lemon juice or lemon slices.
- Water - Filtered water for best flavors.
- Sweetener - Simple syrup, sugar or natural sweeteners like honey, agave works too.
Iced lemon tea method:
- Bring water to boil until it bubbles, then add the tea and boil in medium flame for 2 minutes (or follow the instructions in the pack).
- Filter through a tea strainer and add sugar, mix to dissolve it. Cool down to room temperature.
- You can squeeze little lemon to the brewed tea or just muddle some fresh slices to avoid cloudy tea. Fill a tall glass with ice, fresh lemon slices and pour the tea over it and enjoy!
Serve it icy cold, as it is ICED lemon tea. Also add ice cubes generously. Keep hydrated this summer😎.
Tips for clear tea
- Do not over brew! You can use your own method for brewing tea - Boil or steep in hot water. Make sure to follow the instructions on the pack as each brand have varying time.
- If using tea bag no need to squeeze it hard. Or loose tea means not applying pressure or stirring too much.
- As soon as your tea is ready, pour over lot's of ice, than chilling in refrigerator.

Ice lemon tea recipe
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon Tea powder
- 1.5 cup Water
- 2 tablespoon Sugar or as per your taste
- ½ Lemon
- 2 Lemon slices
Instructions
- Bring water to boil until it bubbles, then add the tea and boil in medium flame for 2 minutes (or follow the instructions in the pack).
- Filter through a tea strainer and add sugar, mix to dissolve it. Cool down to room temperature.
- You can squeeze little lemon to the brewed tea or just muddle some fresh slices to avoid cloudy tea.
- Fill a tall glass with ice, fresh lemon slices and pour the tea over it and enjoy!
Notes
- Add tea powder only after water boils for best results. Do not boil more than 2 minutes as it may turn strong and bitter.
- I used larger tea granules/ leaves so if using finer tea leaves/ powder, reduce the amount. Refer the back of the pack for instructions.
- Keep covered while the tea comes to room temperature to retain its flavor.
- Adjust lemon juice and sugar as per your taste.
