Khajur modak is an easy, healthy one you can make for this Ganesh chaturthi. Artificial sugar free khajoor modak uses dates as main ingredient. Mixed nuts adds nutritional value.

I had this in my to do list along with khoya modak and thought will post today.
Coincidentally one of a reader (Pavithra) too sent me recipe. So thought will immediately post this recipe.
This has no extra sugar, only the natural sweetness from dates rich and healthy with nuts.
So zero sugar (in terms of artificial sweetener), but it does have natural sweetener. You cannot rule out the calories it has.
Just need modak mould to shape in. No mold? Just make it as ladoo and roll it over desiccated coconut to serve. See this dry fruits nuts ladoo recipe in my website.
Variations
- Add roasted desiccated coconut too along with nuts.
- You can add nuts of your choice, but add in small portions, some nuts may give you bitter taste.
- Add few raisins along with dates.
- A teaspoon of roasted poppy seeds (khus khus) is also a good addition.
- You can reserve some powdered nuts and sprinkle over the modaks or give it a gentle coating. This will look nice as well as make the modak non sticky.
- Use pistachio powder alone to sprinkle/ coat over the modak for pleasant color.
My notes
Use ghee generously for easy unmolding. Choose a smaller mold for watching your serving size.

If you like that way, yes you can try that. But I didn't want to make it fusion recipe. Skeptical how rice flour and dry fruits will go together.
