MICROWAVE CHOCOLATE CAKE (SINGLE SERVING)

September 3, 2012 by Raks Anand 106 Comments /

single-serving-microwave-chocolate-cake
I was pinterest-ing two days back and some pin took me indirectly to this site, where i found this awesome 1 minute microwave chocolate cake (single serving).

I bookmarked it immediately to try (If anybody’s mind voice asks why instead of pinning I bookmarked, well there are so many pins in the To try board🤫). But today I am supposed to do a post here and thought of trying this simple cake as I was not in mood to do anything else, only a chocolate cake, that too in less time. So I tried and it came out amazingly delicious, the whole house was smelling chocolaty, my hands, my fingers, wow!!

So after a quick photo shoot,  I tasted the warm cake (yeah I clicked that fast😇). It was so delicious, textured and soft as well. Even after I finished eating the cake, I had that chocolaty taste for sometime! Now this is my cup of cake!! So if dont think too much, the ingredients are so simple that everyone of you must have, go and try this one for you or your loved ones and get lost in the chocolaty cake…

Source: source recipe

Method

    1. Place 1 tbsp + 2 tsp cocoa powder, 3 tbsp flour, 2 tsp sugar, 1/4 tsp baking powder, 1/8 tsp salt(if adding) in a mixing bowl.
      microwave-chocolate
    2. Mix so that everything blends completely, evenly. Add liquids – 3 tbsp milk and 1 tbsp oil (I used coconut oil) and mix properly, no over mixing.
      microwave-choco-cake
    3. Transfer to the baking dish – I used ramekin, you can use any microwave safe dish or even a microwave safe coffee mug. Microwave high for 40-60 seconds. Keep an eye after 40 seconds as it purely depends on your microwave oven. I did for 60 secs.
      microwave-cocoa-cake

Notes

      • If you are planning to invert the cake, then make sure to grease the dish before you pour the batter. If you are going to eat as such from the dish, then no need.
      • The cake will rise while you microwave, but not much to get overflowed. Refer my ramekin, how much I have filled to get an idea.
      • I used Van Houten cocoa powder and it was great.
      • I recommend coconut oil as it was best in this cake.

Enjoy it warm with ice cream or custard or with some choco sauce / caramel sauce … Tastes soft and great even if cools down, right from the top till the bottom, its soft and delicious!

    Raks,
My "First" attempt of making cakes started with this recipe. It was OK for first time but have some doubts:
    1. I used boiled "AAvin" milk. Should i use the non boiled milk?
    2. How long should i beat the batter, approximately till what consistency.

  58. RAKS KITCHEN

    September 10, 2012 at 10:16 am

You can try fresh milk without boiling, I used raw milk without boiling. So try again and see the difference, I am not sure…
You should beat until everything mixes well without lumps. No specific time.

Hi Raks,First of all, i must appreciate your efforst to make this site very attractive and keeping the recipes very simple. I'm a newbie into the kitchen, however have learnt to manage the kitchen, I refer your site regularly and try new dishes. I tried this this cake twice, i used 1.5tbspoon of corn flour and 1.5 tbspoon of Maida. The cake was ready in 1 min but i didnt get the fluffy kind of the cake..I could taste the flour, but it was cooked. It tested that inserting the knife and it didnt stick to it. What do you think could be the problem ? What do i get that floury kind of taste in the cake rather than being very soft and spongy

For this specific recipe, just microwave in high for a minute, that's it. Unless otherwise the recipe calls for other settings, just cook in microwave high.
