    Corn flour halwa recipe

Microwave corn flour halwa recipe under 20 mins. No sweat, no sugar syrup. Just mix and cook everything. Perfect for beginners and bachelors. Very less ghee too.

This is a easy to make microwave corn flour halwa, you can make within 20 minutes. If you have un-expected guests and you want to make some sweet, you can make it so soon without sweat. This is my MIL’s trade mark sweet. She learnt it through a TV show. She makes and serves this proudly as it is made out of Microwave.

And every body without fail will ask for the recipe and totally get impressed too. It uses very less ghee unlike other halwa recipe.  I could not click that well to show the delicious halwa. But the recipe and the taste is the main right.. so I think you all can adjust with it…
And Before going to the recipe, I want to say a very important thing…
🎉WISHING YOU ALL A VERY HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS DIWALI 🎉!!

    Microwave corn flour halwa recipe

Microwave corn flour halwa recipe under 20 mins. No sweat, no sugar syrup. Just mix and cook everything. Perfect for beginners and bachelors. Very less ghee too.
    Course Sweets
    Cuisine Indian
    Prep Time 2 minutes
    Cook Time 15 minutes
    Servings 20 pieces
    Cup measurements

    Ingredients

    • ½ cup Corn flour white starch
    • 1 & ½ cup Sugar
    • 2 cup Water
    • 1 pinch Cardamom powder
    • 5 Cashews
    • 2 tsp Ghee
    • ½ pinch Food colour

    Instructions

    • Mix corn flour, sugar, water and food colour in a large microwavable bowl, without any lumps.
    • Microwave in high for 6 minutes. After 4 minutes in between, mix once. Again microwave for 6 minutes, stirring in between after every 2 minutes of interval.
    • Fry cashews in ghee till golden brown (You can do this too in microwave by placing 1 tbsp ghee and broken cashew together in a microwave safe glass bowl for 1 minute, stirring every 20 seconds) and mix well along with cardamom powder. Grease a plate with ghee and pour in the plate and let it cool down for ½ hour or so. Cut into pieces and enjoy!

    Notes

    • Stirring in between as mentioned is very important to ensure even cooking.
    • Do not reduce the sugar amount,as it will change the glossy look too and end up in porridge 😉
    • The whole process is made in microwave high power.
    • According to oven the cooking time varies plus or minus 2-3 minutes.
    • Consume within one or two days. Refrigeration changes the texture so it is not recommended.
    • There is a easy way to remember the recipe. 1 part corn flour,3 parts sugar,4 parts water. i.e; which ever cup u use, use the same cup and follow the ratio. Simple.
    • Use natural food colours.

    Microwave corn flour halwa method:

      1. Mix corn flour, sugar, water and food colour in a large microwavable bowl, without any lumps.step 1
      2. Microwave in high for 6 minutes. After 4 minutes in between, mix once. Again microwave for 6 minutes, stirring in between after every 2 minutes of interval.step 2
      3. Fry cashews in ghee till golden brown (You can do this too in microwave by placing 1 tbsp ghee and broken cashew together in a microwave safe glass bowl for 1 minute, stirring every 20 seconds) and mix well along with cardamom powder. Grease a plate with ghee and pour in the plate and let it cool down for ½ hour or so. Cut into pieces and enjoy!step 3

It has a texture just like jelly, but sure sweeter than that. Do try and you will agree that this is the easiest halwa you have ever made!

Celebrate a safe Diwali and see you all after the festival!

Just tried the recipe.I did with 1/4 cup proportion.Turned out tasty and really good.Very easy and quick recipe.
A question-Do we increase the timings if we increase the proportion? and how do we know it is done to pour on the tray?

This is my favourite sweet. I have made it in the past and got it right. These days I have not been able to make it basically because I am lazy:)! Love to try this one. Need one clarification though Microwave in high for 6 minutes. After 4 minutes in between, mix once. Again microwave for 6 minutes, stirring in between after every 2 . Do I have to micro for 6 mins first and then stir or stir after 4 mins and keep again for 2 mins.

Did you add everything in correct ratio? if you reduce sugar, it will be like a paste. If you are sure about the measurements, sure you can keep heating one minute until it reaaches halwa consistency

      Hi Raks

I made this yesterday. Both Me & my hubby liked it. Thanks. But it came out like a porridge only. I used the exact measurements like u said. But my corn flour is yellow in color – yours seem to be white. And I used cane sugar. But I wonder how u got this result – it has to be grainy right – yours is smooth and transparent – does it all have to do with the corn flour ? Thanks again.

Hi pavithra. This recipe uses white corn starch. Yellow will not work…. Try with white one, sure it will come out good!

Thanks Raks. I can buy white corn starch anywhere right – need not be from Indian store. Also I guess white corn flour is different white corn starch. Right?

Try over stove top. Mix everything, pour into a kadai and keep stiring until halwa consistency (shiny) reaches.

Hi I just tried this recipe, as I was excited seeing such an easy rrecipe for halwa and it has turned out well except that I couldn't spread it across the greased pan evenly as it was sticky. Any specific technique you used to do that?

Usually as we pour it into the tray it spreads itself we just have to wait until cool down and then cut. May be u cooked more than needed or undercooked.

It okay chitra, spoon the halwa in bowl, no need to cut into pieces, at the end only taste matters and after all this is not burfi to feel bad, its halwa, so you can serve in bowl as well.

OTG cannot, can try over stove top. Follow same measurements. First make sugar syrup, when its one string consistency, dissolve corn flour in water and pour it to the syrup, keep stirring, add ghee. Stir until its shiny and thick
