Oats pongal recipe, a delicious take of south Indian breakfast pongal with fibre rich oats. Step by step pictures recipe.
Pongal and oats makes a good combo as both are meant to be mushy. I make this for lunch and have it with sambar for a filling meal… If you have chutney also for side dish, then you will never complain anything, just make it, eat hot, it’s really good! One day saw the Saffola oats advertisement in the magazine about this and got tempted. Made instantly and had for lunch. You can make this as Oats kichidi too if you add onion, tomato and masala powders to this.

Thank you Gayathri for the feedback 🙂
Thanks a lot Raji. First I tried your Jangiri and it came out so well. Then today I tried Oats pongal. It was awesome.
One change… I cooked Oats, moongdal, (a portion of jeera, ginger and pepper) in the Pressure cooker. The aroma from all the spices percolated into the pongal and it was really good. I used the remaining portion of the spices for tempering. I also added very little cashew.
Thank you for this recipe…, tried it out today and it was so good! Never used oats for anything other than porridge before! Going to try all your oats recipes..
Thank you for all your hard work to post step by step pics..you are awesome!
I tried it today,it is yummy…Thank you
How can I make this in pressure cooker and for how many whistles?
Do I need to seasoning after cooking or can include in pressure cooker?
waiting for ur reply…
thanks
Sorry I have not tried it in cooker as oats might get too mushy.
Havenot tried in pressure cooker before. Do you mean all together – oats, dal ? Together may not be a good idea. First season and cook the moong dal, open the cooker and add oats and cook again. That could help.
Very yummy and healthy.. Tried it today and came out very well. I started following your blog recently and you are doing a wonderful job of posting nice recipes with step by step perfect pictures. Great going 🙂
