Roohafza refreshing mocktail, a drink made with mint and lemon in virgin mojito style. I have used plain soda for this drink.
As I have said earlier, I didn't like the plain roohafza with water. I like it with milk as in mohabbat ka sharbat. So I thought of adding mint and plain soda like in virgin mojito. It was really refreshing for this summer. It's very simple to prepare if you have chilled soda and few fresh mint in stock.
I have a mint plant growing in my balcony to get few fresh leaves for my cooking. I always add mint to biryani and like few in my veg kurma, which I make weekly once for Aj's lunch box. Since I use only very few numbers, buying mint leaves always ends up in wastage. Not a big fan of mint chutney and thogayal, atleast not that often. So I decided to grow few plants so that I can get few when needed. And it is quite handy for me.
You can also grow your own mint plants at home. Here's how. When you buy fresh mint sprigs from groceries, choose and save few good quality sprigs. Some will even have tiny roots in it, so you will know. Keep it immersed in a glass of water until you plant it in a pot. Do not over water as it may end up in rotten roots/ stems. Make sure to get good sun light atleast few hours a day.
- 2.5 tablespoon Rooh afza
- 10 Mint leaves
- 1 tablespoon Lemon / lime juice
- 1 cup Plain soda
- 1 cup Crushed ice
- Muddle little ice and mint leaves until you get the flavour of mint. Top with more ice. Add roohafza, lemon juice.
- Top with chilled soda. Mix gently, Garnish with lemon wedge/ slice, fresh mint sprig and serve.
- I like the addition of crushed ice that ice cubes.
- I just used my mixer to grind ice and use it in the recipe.

Serve/ enjoy immediately. Though I have used thick straw, a thin straw will be apt for this as they serve in restaurants.
