Sattu sharbat recipe, satttu sharbat salt

August 4, 2017 by Raks Anand 2 Comments /

Sattu-sharbat
Sattu sharbat is a healthy protein drink made with roasted chickpea flour. It can be made both sweet and spicy version, in this post lets learn hot to make sattu sharbat with salt and other spices.
I keep looking at this sattu flour that is sold in popular brand. I kept thinking it is the sathu mavu, they have named it so. This time when I went for monthly groceries, I took a pack, even then I didn’t care about giving a read about the ingredients. I thought it would help in hurry mornings to make porridge/ kanji.
Next day I made kanji too, just like making other kanjis like ragi kanji/ kambu kanji. It tasted and smelt so weird. Then I checked it what it was and realised it is roasted chickpea flour. So it was more like besan or pottu kadalai kanji.

Then I googled and found it is roasted chickpea flour. What is the difference between sattu and besan?  Besan is chana dal flour where as sattu is roasted chana flour is what I understood.
I found this recipe just in the back of the pack and made it and it turned out really good. We are adding raw onions, kala namak (black salt), bhuna jeera (roasted & powdered cumin seeds), lemon juice and coriander leaves. Just like we add for chaat items. So could the recipe go wrong? I enjoyed a lot.
Of course it has lots of health benefits like cooling effect on body, healthy protein source and makes a filling drink. So easy and quick ot make too.
