Spicy Phool makhana recipe, roasted phool makhana

February 3, 2017 by Raks Anand 9 Comments / Jump to Recipe

Spicy phool makhana recipe with step by step pictures. Phool makhana is popped lotus seeds, used in various recipes, this is easy snack that can be made in jiffy.

I made this same like I do kara pori (spicy murmura) I never knew these phool makhana and have seen at Mustafa here in Singapore. Since I had no idea about it, haven’t thought to buy but kept wondering what to do with it and how to cook it. Wanted to try first something easy and see how it tastes. At first bite I didn’t like but later it turned out to be very addictive, also same happened with Vj. Since it is really nutritious and regional, I thought this is a healthy alternative for pop corn.

Phool Makhana is full of nutrients
Red chili is bad for health any time, alternatively green chili is also full of nutrients
Baking at a low temperature is good for nutrients

The fun will be to create a fusion of these three facts. I am a culinary thinker/recipe designer.

Here is a challenge, I am sure many creative people will have fun & be proud of their achievement.

I do appreciate ghee & whipped butter in any kind of cuisine. They are healthy too. I am the living proof of it at 75. We used to have cow in our house.

    Best wishes.

Tried the recipe today. Hint of garlic added a great flavor. I used butter instead of ghee. Thanks for the wonderful recipe.
