Thakkali kai kootu and thakkali kai chutney are the two things that came to my mind when I had two unripe green tomatoes in the pack I got in Fairprice. So first thought will try chutney as I wanted to try new chutney recipes for idli. I found an interesting recipe here with unusual ingredients than I use regularly for chutneys. Yes, sesame seeds and methi are very new to me to use in a chutney. I was not convinced until I had with idli. It was tangy, flavorful and delicious too. When I licked a bit after grinding, I was thought its a flop try, but when I had with idli, it was too good. I loved it. So when ever you have unripe tomato, do not wait for it to ripe, just try this chutney and sure it wont disappoint you.
Serve with hot idlies. Loved it a lot – the methi and sesame seeds together, did not over power any of the flavour and well balanced.
