I am trying this for the first time from a cookbook I am having. Was searching for some quick and simple rice variety today late morning for my kid and this recipe sounded good for me.

So I decided to make this and I made it in my way to suit our taste buds. Simply love these variety rice😍.

    About

Karnataka is known for the popular bath recipes, which you can find abundantly in all the restaurants. In spite of the fact we south Indians regularly take rice for lunch, some people also love it for breakfast.

Tomato bath is one of the easiest rice-based delicacy. I have already posted another version which does not involve any grinding part.

This is also versatile and can be altered to suit your taste buds, availability of ingredients.

Since we are grinding some whole spices along, the flavor is really good and different from usual ones. It blends well with tomato.

    Ingredients

Rice - I used Basmati rice in this recipe. But you can use any of your regular rice you cook for lunch. Just cook the rice right, so that the grains are separate.

I have tried with sona masuri, par boiled ponni and even jeeraga samba rice.

Tomato - Choose red ripe tomatoes for best taste, flavor and color as well.

Ginger garlic paste - For flavor we are adding ginger garlic paste. You can also add chopped ginger and garlic.

I at times add whole garlic and grind ginger along coconut.

Onion - A little extra sliced onion in this recipe. It adds nice sweetness and crunch when you eat.

If you want to make it no onion no garlic version, you can skip these both.

Whole masalas - Cinnamon, clove and cardamom are used while grinding. So you wont even end up biting whole spice while eating.

Green chilli - Only spice source in this recipe, this is also ground along and makes it kid friendly.

Coconut - Balances the taste as well as adds extra flavor.

OOOOOOOooooh that is my very very fav one raji... the tomato rice which i posted already is one type. The next version which i wanted to post is this kind. But the difference is for making the paste, I just use the garlic, saunf, redchilli and coconut. Others are same. I love this ..becos grinding little coconut gives different flavor to the tomato rice. Seeing ur display plate its making me drool..hopefully I'll make tomato rice today. And asusual ur pictures are damn good dear.
