    About Turmeric Shots

Turmeric and ginger are everyday staples in Indian kitchen. These bright spices are revered as anti inflammatory foods. Its active compound curcumin is a potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant and gingerol in ginger aids digestion and immunity. Together, they make a warming golden drink, that many enjoy as a daily wellness shot.

In Indian tradition, turmeric and ginger bring both flavour, symbolism. Turmeric's brigh yellow color signifies purity, prosperity, which is why turmeric plant is tied to the cooking pot during Tamil harvest festival Pongal. I had some fresh Turmeric and Ginger after my Pongal celebration. So wanted to make use of it without wasting and tried this homemade Ginger turmeric shot.

    Turmeric shot Ingredients

Here are the simple ingredients needed to make ginger turmeric shot recipe.

    Substitutions & Variations

Turmeric - If you do not have fresh root, substitute with 1 teaspoon of high quality, ground turmeric (Organic turmeric powder) per inch of fresh turmeric.

Ginger - Same way, use about ½ teaspoon ginger powder for inch fresh.

Lemon juice - You can use lime juice, or any citrus works. You can try orange for more smoother taste and reduce honey. Vegetables like carrot works too for extra nutrition.

Honey - For vegan version, you can add maple syrup or omit completely if using orange or any other fruits.
