    When my friends were asking what special recipe for this year’s pongal, I told I have already posted sweet potato poli and that’s it. Then one of my friend suggested rava sweet pongal. I too thought it was a great idea and should try and post.

    Then thought I could try with wheat rava. I had thought this before too, to make something sweet with wheat rava. So this is the right time to try and post I thought. Check out the full video of wheat rava sakkarai pongal recipe to learn easily!

    Wheat rava sweet pongal with jaggery

    Wheat rava sweet pongal with jaggery, an alternate for rice and super quick to prepare. Pongal festival special recipe, Stepwise photos detailed recipe.

    Ingredients

    • ½ cup Wheat rava
    • ½ cup Jaggery
    • 2 tablespoon Moong dal Paasi paruppu
    • 1 pinch Salt
    • 1 Cardamom powdered
    • 5 Cashew nuts
    • 2 tablespoon Ghee
    • 2 cup Water
    Prevent your screen from going dark

    Instructions

    • . First heat a teaspoon of ghee and roast cashew nuts until golden. In the same ghee, roast the wheat rava for a minute in medium flame.
    • Add boiling water, cooked moong dal and salt. Mix well and let it get thick.
    • Cook covered for 4 minutes or until done in medium flame. Mix well. (You can apparently pressure cook)
    • In another vessel, boil ¼ cup water and add jaggery. Heat until completely gets dissolved.
    • Add it to the cooked wheat rava. Mix well.
    • Keep cooking and once the syrup gets absorbed well, add one teaspoon of ghee at a time and mix well.
    • Once the mixture leaves the sides of the pan, add cashew nuts and cardamom. Mix well.

    Stepwise photos

      Interesting twist on the traditional pongal. Texture must be more like kesari (dry), no? Instead of gooey like Pongal because of the godhuma rava? Happy Pongal!

      Yes it will be like kesari, but you can try with more water ratio if you want more moist.
