Mango thogayal recipe

Mango thogayal is a tasty accompaniment for rice or idli dosa. When mangoes are in season, do try it for it's flavor and lovely color.

  • ½ cup Grated coconut
  • ¼ cup Chopped mango kili mooku/ ottu manga
  • 5 Green chilli
  • 3 Garlic small variety
  • ½ cup Coriander leaves
  • teaspoon Asafoetida
  • Salt As needed

To temper

  • 1 teaspoon Oil
  • ½ teaspoon Mustard
  • 1 Red chilli
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves


  • Divide the mango into two and take out the seed and hard part.
  • wash well and chop into small cubes roughly.
  • Grind with all the other ingredients in the first table with very little water.
  • The ground mixture should be little coarse in texture and not smooth.
  • Transfer to serving bowl and temper with the items given under ‘To temper’ table.


  • Instead of coriander, you can use mint leaves.
